In aid of Anti-Bullying Week the children came into school today wearing a pair of odd socks. It’s been a great opportunity to celebrate what makes us unique and individual.
Children in Need 2021
The children have had a fabulous day raising money for Children in Need. We wore Pudsey ears to school and took part in the Annual Duck Race. I’m thrilled to say that we have raised a whopping £205.00 so far! Well done to all of the children – your kind donations will make a huge difference to children’s lives around the UK.
Y3’s ICT Visit to The Open Zone!
Y3 enjoyed a day of creating algorithms, programming and de-bugging at The Open Zone. The children worked collaboratively to problem solve using materials such as Lego. The children gave an excellent account of themselves and were a credit to the school.
Thank you to the Y3 parents who managed to drop off and collect their children from the venue, which enabled the visit to take place.
Y3 Travel Back to Prehistory!
Y3 enjoyed travelling back in time to Prehistory today. The children created a human timeline that stretched back from 2021 to the beginning of the Stone Age. Everyone became young archaeologists as they handled and described a variety of artefacts. We learned about the changes from the Stone Age to the Iron Age; as well as playing Prehistoric games in a fun filled, educational afternoon!
Y3 Cave Art
Y3 have been researching Stone Age art and investigated what early man would have used to create drawings.
The children experimented using natural materials to make shapes and lines. They used berries, leaves, charcoal and spices like cave men would have done thousands of years ago!
Y3 then produced their own fantastic prehistoric images. The fantastic art produced would not have been out of place in the spectacular artistic caves of Lascaux (France) or Altamira (Spain).
Summer Sport & Well-Being Club 2021
Thank you to the children who attended our Olympic themed sport and well-being club. We celebrated different cultures by visiting each continent that represent the Olympic rings. Activities included writing in Japanese hiragana, aboriginal dot paintings from Australia, producing a Maasai Necklace (Kenya), Athletics, Tag Rugby, Hockey, Futsal, Tug of War, Dodgeball, and much more. Thanks again to the brilliant children who will all receive their Olympic torch medals in September, as the Olympic values were displayed by everyone throughout!
Y3 Sports Day
Y3 had a great time during Sports Day on a beautiful, summer’s morning. Everyone encouraged their friends and tried their best. As a special bonus we did extra races in every event, so everyone enjoyed more opportunities. I’m sure the children will now especially enjoy the athletics at the Tokyo Olympics this summer!
Egyptian Banquet Bonanza!
Y3 enjoyed a delicious banquet as they discovered the different foods that the Ancient Egyptians enjoyed. Children considered the texture, appearance, smell and most satisfyingly the taste of the dishes; that included baba ghanoush, hummus and falafel. The food was very popular and the children concluded that they would be very happy to eat like an Egyptian!
Y3 Outdoor Adventurers!
Y3 used their navigational map reading skills to solve a variety of orienteering puzzles at South Marine Park. The children worked as teams to complete a physical course, while having plenty of fun in the summer sunshine!
Y3 Athletics at Monkton Stadium!
Y3 enjoyed sprinting, long jumping, howler throwing and a 400m run in a brilliant Athletics Festival at Monkton Stadium. It was wonderful having the whole class participating and great to see the children achieving lots of determined, personal best performances! I was very proud of how you trained and performed at this fantastic venue- well done to everyone!
