The Junior Choir took part in South Tyneside’s Civic Christmas Carol Concert at Temple Park Leisure Centre. They sang a selection of Christmas carols alongside other schools and a live orchestra. They sang so beautifully and did us proud as always!

We are excited to share some fantastic news that our School Council is leading an inspiring initiative called “Switch Off Fortnight,” aimed at promoting energy conservation and environmental awareness throughout our school community.
What is “Switch Off Fortnight”?
“Switch Off Fortnight” is a campaign designed to encourage everyone at St Bede’s to be mindful
of their energy consumption. For two weeks, starting from Monday 11th November, we will focus
on switching off lights, computers, and other electronic devices when they’re not in use. This
small change can make a big difference in reducing our carbon footprint and helping the
environment.
Why Are We Doing This?
The School Council believes that everyone has a part to play in protecting our planet. By
reducing energy consumption, we can not only help the environment but also save on electricity
costs, which can be redirected towards other school needs. This campaign is a great
opportunity for students, staff, and the whole school community to come together for a common
cause.

Reception had a very exciting visit to The Word this week. They listened to some farm themed stories, took part in farm themed arts and crafts, sang songs and even got to choose their own books to bring back to school! It was so lovely to see the children so excited about choosing and sharing stories with each other, developing their love of reading for pleasure!

Yesterday we walked to church to meet Father Bill who talked to us about baptism. He showed us all of the symbols used in a baptism including the font, baptismal candle and the holy oil. The children then asked Father Bill some excellent questions like, “Why do you light the candle?” We would like to say a big thank you to Father Bill for a lovely morning!
