On Tuesday morning the children in Reception headed to the Urban Factory to take part in a Gymnastics Festival. The children had a great time balancing on beams, learning how to do forward rolls, climbing and moving around on a variety of apparatus.
With Christ at our side to guide us,
we shine in all that we do.

This week some of our junior and infant children took part in the South Tyneside Music Festival at The Custom’s House. The children came together, along with other schools, to put on a performance of Sleeping Beauty (infants) and The Giants in the Clouds (juniors). Each school was asked to perform a song of their choice to showcase their talents. The Juniors sang ‘Sing’ and ‘Crazy Rolling’ while the infants sang ‘We’re all made of stars’ from the musical Finding neverland. The children worked really hard to learn the words and we are all very proud of their efforts. Â

Reception have been on a very exciting trip to the Discovery Museum to launch our ‘Toys Through Time’ topic. The children started the day by completing a toy trail around the museum and having great fun exploring the science exhibition. After lunch the children took part in a workshop where they solved clues to find missing toys, listened to a story called, ‘Lost in the Toy Museum’ and then looked at a range of toys to see whether they were from the past or the present. The children were exceptionally well behaved and represented our school so beautifully. I would also like to say a big thank you to our parent helpers, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as the children did!

This week in house meetings the children thought carefully about what matters most to them. In the middle of the spiral the children wrote or drew pictures of what matters to them day to day. As they moved further out of the spiral they thought about what matters to them in the wider world. It was lovely to hear the children sharing their different views and ideas and to know that there voices really do matter.

The school council have worked extremely hard this week completing a school safety map activity. The children followed a map of the school and thought about how safe they felt in each area. They coloured an area green if they always felt safe, orange if they sometimes felt safe and red if they did not feel safe. We are looking forward to meeting up again after half term to discuss our findings and to work together to make our school the safest it can be.
