Year 2 Library Visit

15th October 2024 By Samantha McHugh

Our Year 2 class had a wonderfull visit to The Word today! The children were buzzing with excitement as we explored the world of literature and picked out some fantastic new books for our class library. It was great to see them so engaged and eager to dive into new stories.

After our book adventure, we channeled our creativity with a fun autumn crafting session. The children made sheep out of pine cones and cotton wool, linked to one of the stories that was shared by the lovely librarian .

A big thank you to The Word for inspiring a love of reading and creativity in our young learners. We’re excited to dive into our new books and continue exploring the magic of literature!

Travelling Crib

27th November 2023 By carolinekennedy

In Advent, as we wait and prepare for the coming of Jesus, the children have been invited to join our special project called ‘The Travelling Crib’.   Starting this week, each child will take turns bringing home a pack to share with their families.

This is to help us remember the journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem, and as a family take time to stop and think about the true meaning of Christmas.

Children in KS1 will bring home The Christmas Story, while children in KS2 will bring home a book called ‘When the Stars Shone Bright, A Christmas Tale’ telling the Christmas story from the perspective of the three wise men.

Exploring Baptism

24th November 2023 By kmcvittie

The children in Years 1 and 2 recently visited St. Bede’s Church to learn more about the sacrament of baptism, which is an aspect of the Religious Education curriculum.

The children were warmly welcomed by Father Bill, who provided an immersive experience as the children learned about the significance of baptism in the Christian faith, as well as offering insights into the history and meaning behind the sacrament.

The visit not only deepened the children’s understanding of baptism but also fostered a sense of connection and community within St. Bede’s Church.

Year 2 Infant Trip

11th July 2023 By Samantha McHugh

Year 2 spent the morning at Marine Park as part of their end of year trip. They began with some den building in the forest area. They used sticks, leaves, stones and much more to create dens for their little gnomes and fairies. I was astounded by their creativity.
Then, they spent some time in the play park on the climbing frames and swings. Of course Miss Langley had to join in! To cool off, the children had ice creams and lollies. I think more ended up on their faces than in their tummies!
To end the afternoon, the children had a ride of the park train where they had not one but two rides. What a fantastic day they have had!

Dance Festival 2023

7th July 2023 By katiedixon

Our Monday night dance club recently performed a medley of songs from Matilda to a packed out audience at the Customs House in the  South Tyneside Dance Festival 2023. The children have been very enthusiastic in dance club and worked extremely hard to remember all of the routine. For some of our children this was their first time on stage.
