The Year 2 children enjoyed the All Stars Cricket Festival at Temple Park. They were given the opportunity for the children to develop their cricket skills while fostering teamwork and friendly competition. Throughout the morning, they engaged in a variety of skill-based games tailored to their age and ability. From batting drills to catching exercises, every activity was designed to enhance their coordination, concentration, and agility.Â

Year 6
Year 2 Infant Trip
Year 2 spent the morning at Marine Park as part of their end of year trip. They began with some den building in the forest area. They used sticks, leaves, stones and much more to create dens for their little gnomes and fairies. I was astounded by their creativity.
Then, they spent some time in the play park on the climbing frames and swings. Of course Miss Langley had to join in! To cool off, the children had ice creams and lollies. I think more ended up on their faces than in their tummies!
To end the afternoon, the children had a ride of the park train where they had not one but two rides. What a fantastic day they have had!
Year 2 Programming @ The OpenZone
Year 2 have enjoyed a day of programming at The OpenZone @ The Word. The children experimented with some exciting codes on a variety of programmes including WeDo2 and ScratchJnr. The children build a range of lego models and programmed them to move and detect motion. They also created their own characters and backgrounds on ScratchJnr and began to programme their own stories using speech. All of the children worked so hard and had a brilliant day. Thanks again to our wonderful parent helpers!
BCCET KS1 Maths Challenge
Four students from Year 2 were selected to take part in the BCCET KS1 Maths Challenge at Our Lady of The Rosary in Sunderland. They spent the afternoon working their socks off with arithmetic, problem solving and reasoning activities. They worked so hard that they won the group challenge and came 2nd overall out of 22 schools. What a fantastic achievement!
Year 2 Class Liturgy
Last week Year 2 took part in their first Class Liturgy. They thoroughly enjoyed planning this Liturgy all about ‘Books’ and sharing it with their parents. They all read and sang beautifully!
Year 2 Odd Sock Day
Today Year 2 celebrated Odd Sock Day to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week. We wore odd socks to demonstrate that we are all different and unique, which is great! This year’s theme was ‘Reach Out’ and we discussed who the children could talk to if something was making them upset. The children ended the day by designing their own odd socks whilst reading the book ‘Odd Socks’. Take a look at some of the jazzy socks the children wore!
Year 2 at Hall Hill Farm
Year 2 have had a fantastic day at Hall Hill Farm. We started with a look at some of the animals on the farm and feed the llamas, alpacas, sheep and goats. The children then handled some of the smaller animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits.
We also enjoyed a very bumpy tractor ride around the farm and had the chance to handle some chicks and feed a lamb. We ended our fun filled day with some time in the play park. Year 2 were very well behaved today and Richard (our guide) was very impressed with our wealth of farm animal knowledge. What a fantastic end of year trip we have had!
Year 2’s trip to the OpenZone @ The Word
On Friday Year 2 enjoyed a trip to the OpenZone @ The Word. The children began by using the laptops to follow step by step instructions to build lego models. They then got to programme their models to rotate, make sounds and move with a motion sensor.
In the afternoon the children used Purplemash to create their own pairs games. They inputted images, drew their own card designs and were eager to add text to their games. To end the day they enjoyed trying out each other’s pair games. Their games can be played following the link below.
