Thank you to everyone who made a donation to Children in Need on Friday. We raised a fantastic £232! A special thank you and well done to the School Council and Year 6 children who hosted a cake sale on Friday lunchtime.
Junior Monster Ball
The junior children had a frightfully exciting night at the Monster Ball on Tuesday!
Robinwood 2022
Our children enjoyed a two-night residential at Robinwood. They were very well-behaved and showed great determination and resilience throughout the activities. We hope they had as much fun as the staff did!
Hoops 4 Health
The children in Year 5 and 6 enjoyed an afternoon with some Newcastle Eagles players this week.
The roadshow concentrated on health messages such as mental and social well-being, how to stay fit and look after the heart and lungs, stay hydrated with tap water and eating a balanced diet. The children also had the opportunity to play some basketball with the Eagles players!
The children were fantastic at answering the players’ questions and taking part in the activities.
Well done everyone!
Year 6 Class Liturgy
Year 6 had the pleasure of inviting their parents into school to watch their class liturgy.
It was great to have everyone back into the school to enjoy a time of worship, reflection and prayer.
The children did a great job and particularly enjoyed the juice and biscuits afterwards!
Year 6 RAP Event
The children attended The Community Fire Station in South Shields and took part in the RAP event which looked at how to stay safe in many different scenarios, including; fire safety, water safety and how to stay safe when out playing.
The children had a great time and learned a lot and particularly enjoyed the live fire demonstration at the end.
We travelled to and from the event via public transport and the children were so well behaved and a credit to the school. We even received a comment from another passenger on the bus about how well behaved they were.
Well done Year 6!
PTA News
Our PTA will be holding a Monster Ball on Tuesday 1st November (please see letter below). In preparation for this, we would welcome any donations of fancy dress costumes you may have at home. We would like to recycle these and will be selling them for £1 at our Autumn coffee afternoon on Thursday 20th October from 2pm in the school hall.
We hope to see you there!
Regional Basketball Finals!
On Friday evening, our basketballers represented South Tyneside in the Champion of Champions Finals at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. Our team played with a lot of passion and often dominated possession in a series of high quality games. Despite remaining unbeaten in our pool, we narrowly missed out on a place in the Grand Final. However, we finished the tournament with a lot of pride, claiming third place after beating Wellfield Middle School in the 3rd Place Play Off.
The players had been training for the event since returning to school in September and gave an excellent account of themselves. In one game, they showed their incredible spirit to come back from 6-0 down to gain an exciting 8-8 draw!
One hundred and forty seven teams were involved in the Hoops4health tournament in our region; so to become District Champions, reach the Champion of Champions finals, remain unbeaten throughout the entirety of the season and secure third place in north east region was an incredible effort!
I was so proud of the whole squad for how they have developed as both players and people throughout the basketball season. Meanwhile, it was truly uplifting to see the brilliant support from the St. Bede’s family community; who travelled to Newcastle to support our children on a great night of sport!
World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is Monday 10th October. The children will be having an assembly on The 5 Ways To Wellbeing. These are simple steps we all can take to improve our Mental Health and Well-being.
District Cross Country Champions 2022!
Eight teams from St. Bede’s consisting of 42 children became South Tyneside Cross Country Team Champions today! It was wonderful to have so many boys and girls involved in a single event. The children have shown incredible dedication to train for the competition and everyone strived for personal best performances. I was so proud of how everyone supported each other and the amazing parental support at Temple Park!
