Children in Need
Thank you to everyone that donated money to Children in Need on Friday. We raised a fantastic £231.66 which will make a huge difference to children’s lives across the UK.
St Bede’s Church Nativity
The children from St Bede’s Church Children’s Liturgy, some of the Mini Vinnies and some of our school children put on a fantastic Nativity performance at church yesterday morning.
The actors were great and the Narrators read beautifully. Everything was coordinated by Mrs Wheeler and Mrs Elwood. Well done everyone!
Carols by Candlelight
The choir sang at St Bede’s Carols by Candlelight Service tonight. They sang beautifully and received many lovely comments from the parishioners and visitors. Well done girls!
Advent Candles
Year 2 was buzzing on Tuesday with the chatter of the Mini Vinnies hard at work decorating Advent candles.
On Sunday, as it was the first Sunday of Advent, the Mini Vinnies then handed out their beautiful candles to each family within St Bede’s parish as they went into Mass.
The Mini Vinnies also enjoyed attending the Children’s Liturgy and getting involved in learning about and dressing the Jesse Tree.
Children in Need 2019
Reception have had a very exciting day raising money for Children in Need. They took part in Joe Wicks ‘Big Morning Move’, the annual ‘Duck Race’, wore Pudsey ears and bought cakes and raffle tickets!
May Procession
The Mini Vinnies made some lovely flowers for the May Procession at St Bede’s Church and they were joined at mass today by children making their First Holy Communion as well as children from St Bede’s Children’s Liturgy group.
They processed into church carrying their flowers and placed them around the feet of Mary in celebration of Our Lady.
Reception’s Mother’s Day Liturgy
The children performed a beautiful Liturgy for their mams to celebrate Mother’s Day. The children spoke and sang so confidently. Afterwards, the children spent time with their mams planting a sunflower and making a photo frame. A lovely afternoon had by all!
Schools’ Celebration to Welcome Bishop Robert Byrne
Tuesday March 26th 2019
Representatives from the 156 schools in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle celebrated the installation of Bishop Robert Byrne as the fourteenth bishop of Hexham and Newcastle at the Cathedral Church of St. Mary in Newcastle.
Freya and Will from Y6 represented St. Bede’s South Shields. Freya had the special privilege of being one of the 12 pupils chosen to read at this very special service; she rose to the occasion and read beautifully. It was a wonderful occasion and one which the children and I will treasure and remember.
The bishop was presented with a book of welcome to which each school had contributed. Eva from Y6 designed the page of welcome for St. Bede’s School. Well done to Eva for her beautiful design.

Fundraising for Comic Relief
This year for Comic Relief the School Council decided that they wanted everyone to come to school wearing something red. The Council also sold Red Noses throughout the day and managed to raise a fantastic £253 for Comic Relief! Well done to all involved!
