Y3 had a great time during Sports Day on a beautiful, summer’s morning. Everyone encouraged their friends and tried their best. As a special bonus we did extra races in every event, so everyone enjoyed more opportunities. I’m sure the children will now especially enjoy the athletics at the Tokyo Olympics this summer!
Year 6 Leavers’ Disco
Mrs Devine and Mrs Welsh had a fantastic time at the Year 6 leavers disco – we hope the children enjoyed themselves!
Y6 – A Sporting Memory Lane
Despite disruption in recent years, Y6 participated and achieved so much in school sport that made us all so proud! They regularly competed alongside their friends in local, county and regional finals in a wide variety of sports. Good luck for the future and thank you for the memories!
Egyptian Banquet Bonanza!
Y3 enjoyed a delicious banquet as they discovered the different foods that the Ancient Egyptians enjoyed. Children considered the texture, appearance, smell and most satisfyingly the taste of the dishes; that included baba ghanoush, hummus and falafel. The food was very popular and the children concluded that they would be very happy to eat like an Egyptian!
Y3 Outdoor Adventurers!
Y3 used their navigational map reading skills to solve a variety of orienteering puzzles at South Marine Park. The children worked as teams to complete a physical course, while having plenty of fun in the summer sunshine!
Y3 Athletics at Monkton Stadium!
Y3 enjoyed sprinting, long jumping, howler throwing and a 400m run in a brilliant Athletics Festival at Monkton Stadium. It was wonderful having the whole class participating and great to see the children achieving lots of determined, personal best performances! I was very proud of how you trained and performed at this fantastic venue- well done to everyone!
Y3 Produce Ancient Papyrus!
In Y3 children have been making papyrus – a type of paper that was first made in Ancient Egypt for writing. The children then decorated their papyrus using oil pastels to produce colourful images of famous Egyptian Gods. The children had a great time and discovered how intelligent the Ancient Egyptians were as they traded with items made from papyrus throughout the Mediterranean.
Y3 Ancient Egypt Day!
The children in Y3 enjoyed an inspirational visit from ‘That History Bloke’, who taught the children about the role of a Pharaoh, the amazing pyramids and the process of mummification. Everyone enjoyed writing in beautiful hieroglyphics and playing some exciting Egyptian games!
Chance2Shine Cricket Day
It was wonderful to see children in Years 1-6 enjoying playing cricket together today. Coaches from Durham CCC and South Shields CC led the event, in which it was great to see plenty of smiles as children batted, bowled and practised their catching.
