Year 4 DT & Science

16th December 2021 By vickidavis

In Science this half term, the children in Year 4 have been learning about Electricity. We decided to get creative and link this to our DT topic.

The children were asked to design Santa’s sleigh that they could make and light up by building a complete circuit which they could control with a switch that they had to make to turn the light on and off.

The children first designed their sleighs and listed all the equipment they would need.

The children brought in their boxes and they began to assemble and decorate their sleighs.

They finally had to add their circuits and light up Santa’s sleigh.

They then evaluated their sleighs and discussed what they would do differently next time to improve their sleighs.

The children thoroughly enjoyed making these and as you can see, they did an amazing job.

22nd November 2021 By kmcvittie

Year 1 have been taking a closer look at some of the leaves, nuts and seeds they have been collecting as part of their autumn topic. They used a variety microscopes and magnifying glasses, which have been kindly loaned to the school by the Royal Microscopical Society. The children found it very interesting to see the different patterns and veins in the leaves. They even noticed a few holes where insects had been feasting.

Children in Need 2021

19th November 2021 By katiedixon

The children have had a fabulous day raising money for Children in Need. We wore Pudsey ears to school and took part in the Annual Duck Race. I’m thrilled to say that we have raised a whopping £205.00 so far! Well done to all of the children – your kind donations will make a huge difference to children’s lives around the UK.
