Year 2 Odd Sock Day

14th November 2022 By Samantha McHugh

Today Year 2 celebrated Odd Sock Day to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week. We wore odd socks to demonstrate that we are all different and unique, which is great! This year’s theme was ‘Reach Out’ and we discussed who the children could talk to if something was making them upset. The children ended the day by designing their own odd socks whilst reading the book ‘Odd Socks’. Take a look at some of the jazzy socks the children wore!

Y4 Class Liturgy

3rd November 2022 By carolinekennedy

In RE, Year 4 have been learning about Reconciliation.  Some of the children have been preparing for their First Reconciliation.  The Sacrament of Reconciliation celebrates the fact that we are loved and forgiven by God and that when we say sorry to one another and experience forgiveness we are experiencing God’s forgiveness.

We all know that God loves us and is always ready to forgive us, no matter what.  His love for us is unconditional.  The children wanted to share this unconditional love and friendship with their families and friends in our ‘Lost Sheep’ Reconciliation Liturgy.

Hoops 4 Health

19th October 2022 By lusher

The children in Year 5 and 6 enjoyed an afternoon with some Newcastle Eagles players this week.

The roadshow concentrated on health messages such as mental and social well-being, how to stay fit and look after the heart and lungs, stay hydrated with tap water and eating a balanced diet. The children also had the opportunity to play some basketball with the Eagles players!

The children were fantastic at answering the players’ questions and taking part in the activities.

Well done everyone!

Year 1’s Autumn Walk

18th October 2022 By kmcvittie

Year 1 went on a walk to the Marine Park this afternoon, as part of their Science seasonal change topic. As the children walked to and around the park, they notices some of the berries and seeds that were on the trees and bushes. They also commented upon the different autumnal colours on the leaves.

The children then collected leaves and other natural items to make leaf people and animals, similar to the ones we had read about in the story ‘Leaf Man’ at school.

As a treat, we finished the walk with a little play in the play park, for all of their hard work this half term.

Year 6 RAP Event

16th October 2022 By vickidavis

The children attended The Community Fire Station in South Shields and took part in the RAP event which looked at how to stay safe in many different scenarios, including; fire safety, water safety and how to stay safe when out playing.

The children had a great time and learned a lot and particularly enjoyed the live fire demonstration at the end.

We travelled to and from the event via public transport and the children were so well behaved and a credit to the school. We even received a comment from another passenger on the bus about how well behaved they were.

Well done Year 6!
