11th February 2022 By vickidavis

As part of Safer Internet Day, the children in Years 4 and 5 discussed the importance of not sharing personal information online and what is acceptable behaviour when gaming online.

The children discussed what they would do in a range of ‘scenarios’ when gaming online. The children had some very sensible and mature answers.

The children worked through a Safer Internet Day booklet and even enjoyed completing a word search and crossword.

Social Media

1st March 2018 By Admin Linda

We would like to remind parents that the minimum age to open an account on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest, Tumblr, Skype and Snapchat is 13 years old.

Whilst parents may choose to allow younger children to use these services, we cannot recommend this and as a school, we must follow Safeguarding policy to maintain the well-being and safety of our children.

Smartphone Safe

1st March 2018 By Admin Linda

Most mobile phones and smartphones now connect to the internet. The filtering on your home computer network may not be covered on mobile devices. The following links provide further information about the potential dangers of mobile devices.

More Useful Information

  • Safer Internet Smartphones
  • Your mobile phone network will also provide information to help you to filter unwanted content. This option is usually switched off and you will need to contact your provider to enable this on your phone.
  • Look out for a copy of the Digital Parenting magazine being sent home from school.

E-Safety at School

1st March 2018 By Admin Linda

As part of your child’s curriculum and the development of computer skills, we provide access to the internet only in teacher supervised lessons. We strongly believe that the use of the web and email is hugely worthwhile and an essential tool for children as they grow up in the modern world. But because there are always concerns about children having access to undesirable materials, we have taken positive steps to deal with this risk in school. Our school internet access provider operates a filtering system that restricts access to inappropriate materials.

The E-Safety Curriculum

KS1 – Children will be taught to use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about material on the internet or other online technologies.

KS2 – Children will be taught to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact

Throughout the school year, classes discusses how we can all stay safe online and the dangers we may face on the internet. We also send home an Acceptable Use Policy and ask every KS2 child and their parent to sign it. This way we know they have read and understood our school’s rules on staying safe.

For more information you can view our E-safety policy.
