Year 6 DT Vegetable Curry

11th April 2025 By vickidavis

In DT, the children researched the typical ingredients that go into a curry. They also learnt about food allergies and which ingredients people may be allergic to or have a reaction to. We then did a vote of which vegetables the children wanted in their curry. They chose: onions, peppers, potatoes and cauliflower.

On Wednesday, the children first learnt about food safety and how to prepare, cook and store food safely. Lisa the cook then demonstrated how to safely peel, chop and slice the vegetables.

Children worked together to prepare the veg and Lisa and the kitchen staff kindly cooked the curry in the school kitchen.

In the afternoon, the children then got to taste and evaluate their curry with an extra little treat of poppadoms.

All the children tasted the curry and some even went back for seconds…..and thirds!!

Easter Mystery

10th April 2025 By carolinekennedy

On the last day of term, children in EYFS and KS1 will be given a copy of The Easter Story to share with their families at home.  KS2 children will be given a copy of the Stations of the Cross, with images drawn by the Mini Vinnies, to take home to share with their families also.

By sharing the Easter story and the Passion of Christ, we remember the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.  As a family, please take time to stop and think about the true meaning of Easter.

We wish you all a happy, healthy and holy Easter!

Year 6 Exam Stress Workshop and SATs Meeting

28th March 2025 By vickidavis

Thank you to everyone who attended the Exam Stress Workshop with Marie Holmes and the SATs meeting this morning. It was great to see such a good turn-out.

I understand a meeting during school hours is not always do-able for working parents with our busy schedules, so I have attached the slides from both Marie’s workshop and the SATs information.

Any queries, please feel free to contact me at school or I can discuss these at Parents Evening next week.

Thank you

Mrs Davis

Sharing stories for Storytelling Week

8th February 2025 By lusher

Storytelling Week

During Storytelling Week, our pupils teamed up across different classes for some shared reading. Children of different ages took turns exploring exciting tales together. It was a wonderful way to spend time together and celebrate the joy of books. What lovely reading we heard, too! 📚✨

Year 6 at The Open-Zone

2nd February 2025 By vickidavis

The children in Year 6 attended the Open-Zone where they completed work on ‘tinkercad’ to design a 3D Ice Palace.

The children could really show off their creative side and showed how confident they were using the design software.

The children have their log-ins and can finish their designs online at home.

We have set up a little competition and the 3 winners will have their designs printed out on the 3D printer.

Can’t wait to see their final designs!

Times Tables Rock Stars – Battle of the Bands Tournament

19th December 2024 By vickidavis

Well done to all the children who took part in our recent Whole School Girls vs Boys Battle of the Bands tournament on Times Tables Rock-Stars.

Overall, the Boys won the tournament but there were some very dedicated, hard-working children trying their best to score the most points!

The top 3 girls and the top 3 boys had a chance to show their “Rock’n’Roll” side for their winners photographs.

Congratulations to them all and well done!

Mrs Davis

A Magical Visit from Father Christmas

11th December 2024 By kmcvittie

Today was full of Christmas magic as we celebrated Christmas Pyjama Day! The children arrived in their cosiest pyjamas, ready for a day of festive fun.

We gathered around the Christmas tree for a special storytime when, to our amazement, Father Christmas himself made a surprise appearance! The excitement was electric as he joined us by the tree to share one of his favourite stories, The Gruffalo.

After the story, Father Christmas answered some of the children’s curious questions—there were plenty! The children couldn’t wait to tell him all about the mischief their naughty elves had been causing at home.

It was a truly magical moment! Thank you, Father Christmas, for making our day so special!
