Times Tables Rock Stars – Battle of the Bands Tournament

Well done to all the children who took part in our recent Whole School Girls vs Boys Battle of the Bands tournament on Times Tables Rock-Stars.

Overall, the Boys won the tournament but there were some very dedicated, hard-working children trying their best to score the most points!

The top 3 girls and the top 3 boys had a chance to show their “Rock’n’Roll” side for their winners photographs.

Congratulations to them all and well done!

A Magical Visit from Father Christmas

Today was full of Christmas magic as we celebrated Christmas Pyjama Day! The children arrived in their cosiest pyjamas, ready for a day of festive fun.

We gathered around the Christmas tree for a special storytime when, to our amazement, Father Christmas himself made a surprise appearance! The excitement was electric as he joined us by the tree to share one of his favourite stories, The Gruffalo.

After the story, Father Christmas answered some of the children’s curious questions—there were plenty! The children couldn’t wait to tell him all about the mischief their naughty elves had been causing at home.

It was a truly magical moment! Thank you, Father Christmas, for making our day so special!

Year 6 Trip – SCRAN Art Exhibition

Year 6 enjoyed an afternoon at the South Shields Museum and Art Gallery to take part in the SCRAN Art Exhibition workshop.

The children took part in an activity which gave them the opportunity to look around the exhibition and answer questions. This linked excellently with out Art unit in school about Propaganda Posters and also introduced them to our upcoming DT unit involving food.

They then went into the learning room where they designed their own poster and slogan based on food.

The children could show off their creativity and their final posters were impressive.

As part of our Science topic about the human body, the children have been learning about the circulatory system.

In today’s lesson, the children investigated the affects of exercise on our heart rate.

The children found their pulse and recorded their resting heart-rate. Then they did some vigorous dancing along to some Jump Start Johnny then recorded their heard rates again immediately after exercise and every minute for 5 minutes.

We had a great discussion about why their heart rates increased during exercise.
