Thank you for supporting our book fair!

8th March 2024 By lusher

A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along to our book fair in school this week. With the support of pupils’ families, we now have £490 of Scholastic rewards points to spend on books for school. We are compiling a list of book requests so this money will be a great help.

We were also lucky enough to have some extra special helpers organising the event this time. Thank you Reading Ambassadors – you did an amazing job!

South Tyneside Schools Music Festival

8th March 2024 By katiedixon

This week some of our junior and infant children took part in the South Tyneside Music Festival at The Custom’s House. The children came together, along with other schools, to put on a performance of Sleeping Beauty (infants) and The Giants in the Clouds (juniors). Each school was asked to perform a song of their choice to showcase their talents. The Juniors sang ‘Sing’ and ‘Crazy Rolling’ while the infants sang ‘We’re all made of stars’ from the musical Finding neverland. The children worked really hard to learn the words and we are all very proud of their efforts.

1st March 2024 By carolinekennedy

Years 3 and 4 led the Stations of the Cross at St Bede’s Church today together with their families and parishioners.

It was a lovely service and the children read beautifully, allowing us time to think about the Passion of Christ and reflect on Jesus’ love for us and the sacrifice He made for us.

CAFOD Family Fast Day

29th February 2024 By carolinekennedy

On Friday 23rd February it was CAFOD Family Fast Day.  St Bede’s families showed their commitment to helping people in the local community and further afield, by generously supporting our Lenten appeal to help us help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Children donated tins of food to the Key to Life Foodbank (an operation providing emergency food and support to people in crisis across South Tyneside) as well as donating money to CAFOD (Catholic Aid for Overseas Development), one of the largest networks in the world, helping some of the poorest and marginalised people in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

We collected over £50 in monetary donations and a wealth of food products for the Key to Life Foodbank.  As you can see by the photographs of our Mini Vinnies with our food donations, together we make a huge difference!

Reception Visit the Discovery Museum

27th February 2024 By katiedixon

Reception have been on a very exciting trip to the Discovery Museum to launch our ‘Toys Through Time’ topic. The children started the day by completing a toy trail around the museum and having great fun exploring the science exhibition. After lunch the children took part in a workshop where they solved clues to find missing toys, listened to a story called, ‘Lost in the Toy Museum’ and then looked at a range of toys to see whether they were from the past or the present.  The children were exceptionally well behaved and represented our school so beautifully. I would also like to say a big thank you to our parent helpers, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as the children did!
