Last week, the children enjoyed their final St Bede’s school trip to Broomhouse Farm Forest Adventure in Durham.
Despite the miserable, damp weather, the children had a great time….as you can tell!!

The Year 6 Children performed on stage for their Year 6 Leavers’ Production: Pirates of the Curry Bean
All of the children worked extremely hard to learn their lines, stage directions, songs and dance moves and they performed brilliantly. We have some exceptional talented actors and singers
in Year 6!
The choir which included children from Years 3, 4 and 5 played a crucial part in the play also and sand beautifully.
No photographs were taken during the performance but I made sure I took a photo of the children on stage in their amazing costumes.

Our Year 1 children enjoyed a delightful visit to children’s library, within The Word. During their trip, they gathered to listen to a football themed story, linked to the Euros, which captivated their imaginations.
Following the story, the children participating in a football craft activity. They had a wonderful time making their very own paper football players.
Each child then had the opportunity to explore the library and choose one special book to bring back to school and help foster a love for reading.
Thank you to staff at The Word for hosting our students and providing such an enriching experience!

🎉 Last night, our talented Year 1 students shone brightly at the South Tyneside Dance Festival! Dressed in vibrant, colourful outfits, they performed a fantastic dance routine to ‘Waka, Waka’ by Shakira at the Customs House. Their confidence and energy lit up the stage, captivating the entire audience!
A huge congratulations to all of you. We are bursting with pride for our incredible young dancers! 🌟👏
After school today, the Mini Vinnies enjoyed a lovely visit to our church to have a ‘Behind the scenes’ tour with Father Bill.
The children had a more detailed look around St Bede’s Church, looking at the Sanctuary, the Sacred Heart Altar, Our Lady’s Altar, the statues, Font, Paschal Candle, the Stations of the Cross images, and the beautiful stained glass windows.
Father Bill then showed us the beautiful stained glass windows of the 7 Sacraments – Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick. Here are 6 of the windows as one of them is best seen from the Choir loft.
The children were very eager to go upstairs into the Choir Loft so were very fortunate to visit that too, getting an amazing view of the church from that vantage point.
The children ended their tour with a visit to the chapel at the back of church, the Sacristy where the Priest and Altar Servers get ready, the Confessional and were lucky enough to see a small relic from the original cross of Christ.
Father Bill, thank you so much for the tour and for answering our many questions! We’ll definitely visit again with our other Mini Vinnies group and other classes from school.

Year 4 enjoyed their visit to The Word this morning. They completed a quiz about the library then listened to a story ‘The Lost Happy Endings’ by Carol Ann Duffy.
We set up a library ticket for Year 4 and the children were allowed to borrow one book each to read in school. Here they are choosing their books and checking them out.
