Fab Footballers!

23rd March 2019 By spidrwebadmin

The school football team completed their league campaign with a 3-0 victory over St. Mary’s RC. The boys have enjoyed a very good season where they have finished Runners Up in the Coyne League. The St. Bede’s players have always played the game in the right spirit and have been a credit to their school.

The team have been superbly captained by Will Watson, who amazingly made his school football debut in Y2. Mahad Uzair has developed into an excellent goalkeeper, while Lucas Britton has grown in stature in each game in defence. Mason Williams and Ryley Wardale have been both versatile and effective in defence or in midfield. Jude Hill has been full of energy and possesses a cultured left foot, while Saul Connor has given the team plenty of quality up front. Meanwhile, Jack Murphy finishes the season as our top goal scorer, quite an achievement for the young, creative midfielder.

Thank you very much to the parents who have supported the boys in the League this season. Finally, thank you to the boys for your commitment and entertaining play throughout.

Star Skippers!

2nd March 2019 By spidrwebadmin

In recent months, it has been wonderful to see the yard filled with children from Y3 and Y4 keeping fit by trying a variety of skipping movements. Subsequently, the skipping team put in a wonderful performance at the South Tyneside Skipping Competition.

Amazingly, every child in the squad achieved a gold, silver or bronze certificate in their individual or team event. In a close contest all the way to the end, we came a highly creditable close second. This was a fantastic effort considering half of our squad were only Y3.

I was so proud of the team spirit and wonderful dedication to practice after school, lunchtimes and at playtime to reach such a high standard. I am also very proud of how selfless Miss Moffett and Mrs McVittie have been to make time to choreograph and teach a brilliant Skip Dance to the children.

Eggciting Experiments!

16th February 2019 By spidrwebadmin

Did you know you can stand on eggs without breaking them?

This week in Science Club we tested this theory and found a dozen eggs could support our weight. We discovered that the curved design of an egg spreads our weight evenly which means the eggs won’t break when we stand on them.

Y3 @ The Urban Factory

14th February 2019 By spidrwebadmin

For the first time since opening, St. Bede’s and all of Y3 enjoyed the Urban Factory experience. Cheer-leading, Tumbling, Gymnastics, Free-running and Dance were all packed into a fun-filled morning.

It was uplifting to see the children cooperatively work together on routines and produce a final, polished whole class performance on the floor. Everyone also enjoyed, using the wide range of equipment that helped them to develop an exciting variety of skills!

I will be sending out further information to all parents about the opportunities on offer at the Urban Factory before half-term. Who knows, this might be the sport that your child develops a passion and aptitude for in the future.
