Congratulations to Roman who has been selected to represent South Tyneside Football team next season. He will play alongside and against the best footballers in the north east region. Roman performed superbly progressing through several trials in the summer term, before being selected for the final District squad – an incredible achievement! We are all very proud of you at St. Bede’s Roman and hope you enjoy every moment of the experience; personally I look forward to following your exciting journey next season.
Year 6 – A Sporting Memory Lane …
During their time at St. Bede’s, Year 6 have contributed so much to school sport and it has been lovely getting to know them and seeing them grow. Looking back nostalgically at these photos, there have been many wonderful memories of the children enjoying physical activity together. It is sad that Y6 wll be moving on this week; but good luck in your new schools where I’m sure you will thrive and thankyou for many magical moments at St. Bede’s.
Mr. McVittie

Congratulations to the many children who have represented St. Bede’s during the summer term in athletics, cricket and gymnastics. We also had the pleasure of presenting a trophy to Sam who has represented the District football team this season. Everyone has shown a lot of determination in their performances and I look forward to seeing your development next year. Thank you for your great efforts!

Our Y3/4 & Y5/6 athletes were presented with their gold medals today which were kindly provided by the South Tyneside School Sport Network. County Athletics Finals 2025 – Team Silver & Individual Successes!
Before we even started today, I was very proud of our two teams to be in the County Finals alongside the best 20 teams from the 400 plus sides which had been involved in recent District Athletics competitions.
Our teams put in their usual determined performances and achieved so much, despite being one of the smallest schools to qualify for the finals.
Firstly, our Y3/4 team were in incredible from as they jumped, threw and sprinted their way to silver medals as they finished County Runners up 2025!
Meanwhile, the Year 5/6 put their heart and soul into their athletics and finished a highly creditable 6th in the County; they should be very proud of themselves – especially after becoming District Champions only a few days ago.
We also collected individual accolades as Harvey & Ralph achieved joint silver in the Y3/4 boys competition, while Robyn was the highest scoring County girl – an outstanding achievement!
Today concluded an exciting and highly successful athletics summer season where a lot of children have grown and flourished.
It has been great to see the children developing their skills and teamship together and the whole school community coming together as one to support each other.
Thank you to everyone who supported our amazing children at Monkton Stadium today and to all of our brilliant athletes – I am so proud of you all!

Our children had a great attitude in training and everyone strived for personal best performances in the finals. Once again, the support throughout the squad for each other was so positive and up lifting- well done everyone!
The A team will now go on to represent South Tyneside in the County Finals on Friday 27th June at Monkton Stadium. They will compete against the best athletes from Newcastle, North Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead.
It was great to see so much support for St. Bede’s children from our school community inside the stadium, which really helped inspire our teams!
Congratulations to our whole squad on a great day’s athletics and good luck to our A team in the County Finals!
Meanwhile, on a personal note I was very proud of how much the children have developed holistically as both athletes and people during their sporting journey over the last four years; in what for many was their last competitive event for St. Bede’s. They all were a credit to themselves, their family and our school.

Year 1 OAA Festival at South Marine Park
Year 1 had a fantastic time taking part in the OAA (Outdoor Adventurous Activities) Festival at South Marine Park! The children worked brilliantly in teams as they used maps to find clues around the park. The maps also helped them to identify places where they could collect natural materials to build a cosy house for a bear. It was a wonderful day filled with teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of outdoor fun!
County Gymnastics Finals – Brilliant Team Bronze!
Our Y3/4 gymnasts represented South Tyneside today at Royal Grammar School in Newcastle in the Gymnastics County Finals. They performed with great courage and incredible skill to present their polished routines to the judges. Amazingly, they were rewarded with a well deserved podium finish to clinch County bronze medals! Our gymnasts were in fantastic company on the podium – alongside previous winners King’s Priory and RGS.
The children also had a great time enjoying a variety of fun gymnastics and trampoline activities in a wonderful setting. I am so proud of your dedication throughout your journey this season and of course your superb performances today!
