We had a wonderful visit from Father Bill from St Bede’s Church. He told us all about his job, the church and events that take place in church. We enjoyed asking him lots of questions.

On May 1st, we held our May Procession in honour of Mary. The Mini Vinnies led the celebration, with children from each class bringing flowers to place in the vases on the focal point dedicated to Mary. The children shared a reading, prayers, a litany, sang some beautiful hymns, and one of the children crowned Mary with a lovely garland of flowers.
Year 4 learnt how to sing and sign ‘The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours)’ using British sign language (BSL) when we were at the Youth Village at the end of April.
Here they are performing it at the Youth Village.

We arrived at the Youth Village and were greeted by beautiful sunshine! The children have settled in really well and have been well fed. They have completed a couple of activities so far and have had fun playing out.
Here they are having fun:
The children had a good night sleep but woke up to hailstones this morning! We’ve had all weathers today – hail, rain and beautiful sunshine!
The boys helped with washing up the breakfast dishes then we played a few games.
This morning, the children completed a carousel of activities including making gratitude bracelets for someone they’re thankful to, a team building activity, getting creative with art and learning to sign the Our Father.
After lunch, we walked to the woods to explore and enjoyed being out in nature.
We squeezed every last drop out of the day with more fun and games around the lodges. They must be tired now??!!
Another super day on Friday – a few more photos to share:
The Mini Vinnies enjoyed an Upcycling Bunting event on Tuesday when they were visited by Laura from the Waste & Recycling Education Centre. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Visitor Education Centre opening and 10 years since household waste has been recycled and not sent to landfill.
The children learnt about the work of the Waste & Recycling Centre and got to reuse some material themselves when Laura brought in squares of fabric to decorate with other scrap fabric pieces to make some beautiful, coloured bunting. This will be displayed at the anniversary event in June.
Here they are making their creations:

The Mini Vinnies hosted a coffee morning today after Palm Sunday Mass.
There was a Tombola stall, a delicious Cale Sale and the Mini Vinnies sold bookmarks they’d made as well as Stations of the Cross booklets in which they’d produced the beautiful artwork.
The Mini Vinnies were brilliant and the morning was a huge success – they raised £166.57 for the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Everyone had a fantastic day! Well done Mini Vinnies and a big thank you to the parents and staff who supported the event too!

Year 1 welcomed their families to join them for their Eucharist Celebration of the Word. The children presented a beautiful performance, showcasing their impressive reading and singing talents. They also shared heartwarming stories about the cherished meals they’ve enjoyed with their families and friends.
Years 3 and 4 led the Stations of the Cross at St Bede’s Church today together with their families and parishioners.
It was a lovely service and the children read beautifully, allowing us time to think about the Passion of Christ and reflect on Jesus’ love for us and the sacrifice He made for us.
