Three teams of pupils enjoyed competing at Monkton Stadium in the South Tyneside Athletics last week. There were some brilliant results in the 75m sprint, 600m, howler throw and long jump. Everyone tried so hard and should be extremely pleased with their performances, especially on what was an usually hot day!
I was very so proud to see everyone supporting each other with lots of enthusiasm and kind words. The children had tons of positive energy and it was a delight to hear them cheering each other on.
Well done, Year 5 – you truly are a fantastic team!

We had a fantastic time at Emmaus Youth Village. During our time there we learnt different forms of prayer including sign language, singing and dancing.
We spent a lot of time outside with our friends and enjoyed an ice-cream at the local park.
All the children behaved impeccably and were a delight to spend time with!

Year 6 have worked extremely hard this term and we have been very proud of the mature and determined attitude they have shown in their SATs.
The last few weeks of half term were a little more relaxed and we enjoyed some fun activities in class, a trip to the park and our jubilee celebrations.
We’re all now looking forward to next half term which will include our Y6 production Ali Babba and the Bongo Bandits, our leavers assembly and lots of transition activities to prepare us for secondary school.

Here are a few photos of Year 5 taking part in our ‘songs through the decades’ performance for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. They looked great in their red, white and blue outfits and did a fantastic job of singing our chosen song from the ‘noughties.’ Scroll down to the bottom for a short video clip of their lovely singing!

Reception have had such a special day today celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee! They came to school wearing red, white and blue, made flags, crowns and even took part in a corgi treasure hunt! This afternoon they sang a song from the 60’s in front of the whole school and enjoyed a picnic and a party. What a brilliant day we have had!

Three St. Bede’s teams enjoyed competing at Monkton Stadium in the South Tyneside Athletics competition today! There were lots of excellent personal best performances with our A team finishing 4th, agonisingly just outside the medals despite their very best efforts. The B team came a highly creditable 7th too in a brilliant event, that was keenly contested by the 21 teams involved.
I was very proud to see everyone pushing themselves and supporting each other with lots of positive energy; so everyone should be pleased with their performances. Many of our Y4’s will take part in the Y5/6 athletics next year, while our youthful Y3’s who heavily featured today should feel confident when competing in the same Y3/4 event next year.
Finally, thank you to all of the children for keenly attending training and our brilliant parent helpers who supported our children so enthusiastically and considerately throughout.
