Y1/2 Summer Sport & Well Being Club!

5th August 2023 By bmcvittie

Well done to our Y1 & Y2 who were all brilliant in our summer sport & well being club, despite the wet weather. Wherever possible, we got outside to enjoy a wide variety of games, and whenever we were forced back inside the children were equally positive enjoying indoor activities. I’m sure the club will help many of our children in their transition to the juniors, while it was wonderful fun teaching our talented children. I hope you all have a great summer with your families and enjoy continuing to get active!

Year 6 Play: Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies

20th July 2023 By nicolamackley

I think you will all agree that the children did an absolutely fantastic end of year production; ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’.

The children worked so hard to memorise their lines, learn the dances and show off their acting talents.

Well done Year 6!

Summer Reading Challenge

15th July 2023 By lusher

The Summer Reading Challenge returns to South Tyneside Libraries for the school holidays.

This year’s theme is ‘Ready, Set Read!’

‘Ready, Set, Read!’ aims to keep children’s minds and bodies active over the summer break, empowering children to forge new connections with others and unleash the power of play, sport and physical activity through reading.

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is delivered in partnership with children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust, which focuses on reading, sport and play.

What the challenge will include:

During the six-week holidays, youngsters aged 4 to 11 years old can collect rewards as they read books from the library.

The challenge will feature inspiring books to read and awesome rewards to collect along the way.

How to join and take part

From Saturday 8 July, children can sign up at their local library and read six books of their choice, and return them before Saturday 16 September to complete the challenge.

It’s free to take part and easy to join!

Where the challenge will take place

The Summer Reading Challenge will be delivered in libraries across South Tyneside including:

  • the Council’s multi-service hubs (The Word, Hebburn Central, Jarrow Focus and Cleadon Park)

  • the community libraries run by volunteer-based organisations (Boldon and Cleadon, Perth Green and Whitburn)

Find your local library.

Alongside the Summer Reading Challenge, there will be a range of events taking place during the summer holidays for children and families to enjoy.

Reception Visit Marine Park

12th July 2023 By katiedixon

Reception had a fantastic time at Marine Park this morning! They had great fun playing on the park, playing with skips and balls on the field and building fairy gardens in the woodland area.  The children then enjoyed a delicious ice cream to cool down and got to ride on the park train. What a busy morning! Next, it was the highlight of the day – lunch! Reception enjoyed a lovely lunch in the park with their friends before heading back to school. The children were beautifully behaved and made all of the staff incredibly proud.

I would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers and a HUGE thank you to Smith’s Seaview Cafe for very kindly supplying the children’s ice creams free of charge.
