County Final – Sportshall Athletics 2025!

10th January 2025 By bmcvittie

The St. Bede’s Sportshall Athletics team superbly represented South Tyneside today in a high-level County Final. The children gave their all in a variety of running, jumping and throwing activities and did their school and Borough proud!

The children only returned to school this week, but have shown brilliant dedication to immediately launch themselves straight into training. There were many fantastic performances today, which saw lots of our children produce personal bests in front of big crowds!

The County final today concludes an exciting Sportshall season, where I have been delighted with how everyone has supported each other in both training and competitions! Thank you also to our fantastic parent helpers today, who supported the children so positively throughout.

Times Tables Rock Stars – Battle of the Bands Tournament

19th December 2024 By vickidavis

Well done to all the children who took part in our recent Whole School Girls vs Boys Battle of the Bands tournament on Times Tables Rock-Stars.

Overall, the Boys won the tournament but there were some very dedicated, hard-working children trying their best to score the most points!

The top 3 girls and the top 3 boys had a chance to show their “Rock’n’Roll” side for their winners photographs.

Congratulations to them all and well done!

Mrs Davis

Year 1 Christmas Party Fun!

17th December 2024 By kmcvittie

The Year 1 Christmas Party was a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season! The children had a brilliant time playing games like Pass the Quoit and Musical Bumps, sharing delicious party food, and showing off their best dance moves.

The highlight was the dancing – from The Conga to favourite chart songs, it was wonderful to see everyone having so much fun together.

Our New Year 3 Reading Ambassadors!

16th December 2024 By lusher

The Reading Ambassadors were delighted to welcome some new members last week. Some Year 3 pupils have joined the team and are ready to get started. We have a lot of children keen to join the group so we will make this a position that is changed yearly from now on, so that more pupils can have the opportunity to join.

Well done Year 3 recruits! I can’t wait to hear your ideas to promote reading in our school.

Year 5 Science… with biscuits!

13th December 2024 By lusher

This week, Year 5 learned about the phases of the moon. We learned when the moon appears to be getting bigger,
it’s ‘waxing’ and when it looks like it’s getting smaller, it’s ‘waning’. We then used biscuits to create a representation of the different phases of the moon.

After labelling and recording our fabulous diagrams, some of the ‘moons’ may have been eaten!

Hey Ewe!

12th December 2024 By kmcvittie

This Christmas, the infants delighted audiences with their heart-warming and humorous performance of Hey Ewe! – a fresh take on the traditional Nativity story, told through the eyes of an excitable and curious young sheep.

The youngest ewe in the flock, full of questions and boundless energy, charmed everyone with her inquisitive nature. While the rest of the sheep were happy to stick to their routines, she found herself drawn into the extraordinary events surrounding the birth of Jesus. From shepherds and angels to a very special baby, her curiosity led the audience on a magical journey, reminding us all to see the wonder of the Nativity with fresh eyes.

The children shone on stage, their enthusiasm and joy capturing the true spirit of the season.

A huge well done to all the children who worked so hard to make this year’s production a success. Merry Christmas!

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Some of the Year 4 children made their First Reconciliation yesterday evening – they were a little nervous initially but came away from their chat with Fr Bill full of smiles.  We were all so proud of them!
