Year 2 Sandwich Making Workshop with Mavis and Tracy from Asda

18th June 2025 By Samantha McHugh

Year 2 had a fantastic time this week during a special sandwich making workshop led by Mavis and Tracy from Asda! 🥪✨

As part of our Design and Technology topic, we explored the importance of healthy eating and learned all about nutritious ingredients. Before diving into sandwich making, we discussed what makes a balanced meal and looked at a variety of healthy options we could include in our creations.

The best part? Making our own sandwiches! Each child had the chance to choose from a colourful selection of fresh ingredients to build their perfect healthy sandwich. Some of us were surprised to discover we liked foods we’d never tried before—or thought we didn’t like at all!

It was a hands-on, tasty experience that not only helped us learn about food and nutrition but also opened our eyes to exciting career opportunities in food retail and hospitality. Mavis and Tracy shared their own journeys and gave us a glimpse into the many roles available at Asda and beyond.

A big thank you to Mavis and Tracy for such an inspiring and delicious workshop!
