During the Spring term, our Year 2 children had a wonderful time exploring the art of patchwork and its historical significance. They learned how patchwork has been used across different cultures and time periods, and then brought the topic closer to home by designing their own patchwork squares inspired by our local community. After practicing a range of sewing techniques, the children used their new skills to create individual fabric pieces. These were then beautifully joined together by our fantastic teaching assistant, Mrs. Dunn, to form a stunning Year 2 patchwork quilt, which now hangs proudly in our classroom. It’s a lovely celebration of creativity, teamwork, and local pride!
