The Y3 children have been litter picking at our seafront. They have been inspired to get involved in looking after our coastline after reading Yvonne Carlin Page’s fictional story of Lily Windy and the Witch. One of the themes connected to the book is conservation of ‘Windy’s Way’ a local setting in the book.
I am delighted how much the Y3 children respect their local area and they jumped at the chance to help clean Sandhaven Beach. The children worked tirelessly litter picking with their friends on the beach. With climate change becoming more prevalent, I think the environment of South Shields will be in safe hands with Y3.
After their energetic cleaning, the children were kindly rewarded with some juice provided by the manager of the Sand Dancer. Emma Lewell-Buck MP also visited the children and praised them for their efforts.
