School Council Launches ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ Campaign
We are excited to share some fantastic news that our School Council is leading an inspiring initiative called “Switch Off Fortnight,” aimed at promoting energy conservation and environmental awareness throughout our school community.
What is “Switch Off Fortnight”?
“Switch Off Fortnight” is a campaign designed to encourage everyone at St Bede’s to be mindful of their energy consumption. For two weeks, starting from Monday 10th November, we will focus on switching off lights, computers, and other electronic devices when they’re not in use. This small change can make a big difference in reducing our carbon footprint and helping the environment.
How Was It Launched?
The campaign was officially launched during a whole school assembly this morning, where the School Council presented the aims of the initiative and inspired pupils and staff to take part. Their message was clear: small actions lead to big changes, and together we can make a real impact.
Why Are We Doing This?
The School Council believes that everyone has a part to play in protecting our planet. By reducing energy consumption, we can not only help the environment but also save on electricity costs, which can be redirected towards other school needs. This campaign is a great opportunity for students, staff, and the whole school community to come together for a common cause.
