Today, Year 2 had an unforgettable experience with Forest Ed as part of their learning journey through history. Our session centered around the Great Fire of London, and the children had the opportunity to burn their own model of Pudding Lane, bringing history to life in an engaging and interactive way.

The day began with a crucial lesson on fire safety, where the children learned the importance of being careful around fire and the correct procedures to follow. Once the safety measures were in place, the children excitedly set up their very own Pudding Lane models. They then witnessed the fire spread from Thomas Farriner’s bakery, just like it did in 1666 when the Great Fire broke out.

As the fire grew, the children explored their senses, imagining what it would have been like to experience the fire first-hand, from the sights and sounds to the smells and heat. It was a powerful way for them to connect with history and understand the scale of the event.

To end the session on a sweet note, the children enjoyed toasting marshmallows and toffee apples over the fire, bringing the day to a delightful close.
