In the Autumn term, we asked for children to volunteer to become Mini Vinnies. We were astounded by the huge number of applications received from our KS2 children. It was so difficult to choose between the thoughtful applications of those children wanting to make a difference in their community, so, with over 40 applications, we decided to run 2 Mini Vinnies’ groups. Here they are being commissioned today.
Mrs Brown visits Year 4
As part of our Local Church topic in RE, we were fortunate to welcome Mrs Brown into school to talk about the role the laity plays in Church. It was very interesting – the children learned a lot about how we are all called to serve God in our own way, and the commitment and responsibility involved in people volunteering.
KS2 Christmas Concert – Hosanna Rock
The children in KS2 delivered a fantastic performance when they sang songs from ‘Hosanna Rock’ in Church today. Accompanied by Mr Richardson on the piano, the children sang, narrated, and acted beautifully. We were all so proud of them! Thank you to everyone involved in the concert and to our wonderful families for supporting them!
Mini Vinnies Christmas Cards
The Mini Vinnies made Christmas cards for people in the parish.
Year 3 and 4 Christmas Party
The children in Years 3 and 4 enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Party. Here are some photographs of them having fun!
Travelling Crib
In Advent, as we wait and prepare for the coming of Jesus, the children have been invited to join our special project called ‘The Travelling Crib’. Starting this week, each child will take turns bringing home a pack to share with their families.
This is to help us remember the journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem, and as a family take time to stop and think about the true meaning of Christmas.
Children in KS1 will bring home The Christmas Story, while children in KS2 will bring home a book called ‘When the Stars Shone Bright, A Christmas Tale’ telling the Christmas story from the perspective of the three wise men.
Mini Vinnies’ Children in Need Raffle and Cake Sale
The Mini Vinnies were fantastic in their new roles with the Year 4 Mini Vinnies leading the Pudsey Bear raffle. Here they are with the lucky winners!
Today, our first group of Mini Vinnies ran our Children in Need Cake Sale. The yummy treats were provided by our Year 6 children and their families. Thank you so much, they were delicious!
Odd Socks Day in Year 4
The children were invited to wear a pair of odd socks to mark the start of ‘Anti-Bullying Week 2023’. The children certainly expressed their individuality with their fantastic array of ‘Odd Socks’ – here are some images of the children in Year 4.
Year 4’s Celebration of the Word
In RE, Year 4 have been learning about Reconciliation. Some of the children have been preparing for their First Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation celebrates the fact that we are loved and forgiven by God and that when we say sorry to one another and experience forgiveness we are experiencing God’s forgiveness.
We all know that God loves us and is always ready to forgive us, no matter what. His love for us is unconditional. The children wanted to share this unconditional love and friendship with their families and friends in our ‘Lost Sheep’ Celebration of the Word.
First Holy Communion
Some of the children in Year 4 celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 10th June. It was a wonderful service: the children looked amazing, read well, and were supported by a packed church of family and friends.
The children enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the church hall and then carried on their celebrations elsewhere.
Please keep all of the children in your prayers as they continue their journey of faith!
