Mini-beast Puppets

17th December 2020 By spidrwebadmin

Year 2 have had an exciting few weeks in Design and Technology designing, planning, creating and evaluating their very own puppets! Our science topic of Living Things and Their Habitats helped children choose the theme of the puppets as mini-beasts.

Our unit has allowed children to research different types of puppets and look at the origins of some of the more common puppets we see today. Children loved the history behind famous puppets such as Punch and Judy and The Muppets!

They did a great job planning the design they wanted to make and thinking about the materials they would like to use (some rather imaginative I must say!) 🙂

Before we were able to create our masterpieces though we had to actually MAKE the puppet, by sewing together fabric using a running stitch. I’m sure you’ll agree they all did a fantastic job as lots of them had never even threaded a needle before so I was very impressed 🙂

Enjoy looking through our photos, the puppets will be winging their way home to you very soon!
