27th March 2019B McVittie

Our Y4 Quicksticks team represented South Tyneside in the County Finals today. The children played with their usual determination and put in lots of fantastic performances, just missing out on a semi-final spot.

Well done to all of the players and Miss Moffett who has trained the children for the event.

South Tyneside Quicksticks Champions 2018!

22nd November 2018B McVittie

Wonderfully, four St. Bede’s teams played in the District Quicksticks Finals staged at Boldon School. All of the children showed good sportsmanship and played with determination at the event.

Three of our teams finished a highly creditable second in their groups; just missing out on a place in the semi-finals. The A Team managed to top their group before going on to win their semi-final against East Boldon and final against St. Matthew’s.

This was an incredible display by the A team who have now won 10 consecutive games this season to become South Tyneside Quicksticks Champions 2018. Amazingly, the competition had fifty eight (58) teams involved this year! St. Bede’s will now represent the borough at ‘The Parks’ Sports Complex in North Shields in the County Finals in March 2018.

Meanwhile, I was delighted by the whole squad who represented our school in the finals event, for the way they all supported one another throughout the finals. Thank you very much to the parents and family members who supported our children.

Quality Quicksticks!

8th October 2018K McVittie

We had 5 very enthusiastic Y3/4 Quicksticks squads at the District tournament at Boldon yesterday. It was wonderful to observe so many participating on the different pitches. The children were all very determined to help their team and I was very proud to watch their committed efforts. Pleasingly, four of our times progressed to the South Tyneside Finals (Wed 7th Nov 1-3 Boldon) after their fantastic performances. The finals afternoon will contain 16 teams from the original 58 entered this year that competed over the morning and afternoon session yesterday.

The parental support at Boldon was absolutely amazing, and it really inspired the children to perform to their best. Thank you to everyone who attended and the children who trained so keenly for the event.

Quicksticks Champions 2017

8th October 2018K McVittie

Wonderfully three St. Bede’s teams played in the District Quicksticks Finals staged at Boldon School today. All of the children showed good sportsmanship and played with determination at the event.

The A team topped their group before taking on Jarrow Cross in the semi-final. We were 1-0 down at half-time, but the children showed great belief to turn the game around in the second half and win 3-1. In the final against East Boldon, the children were quickly onto the front foot and raced into a two goal lead through Saul Connor and Ryley Wardale. We continued to dominate but couldn’t add any further goals, with the opposition scoring a late consolation.

This was an incredible display by the A team who have now won 8 consecutive games this season to become South Tyneside Quicksticks Champions 2017. Amazingly, the competition had forty (40) teams involved this year! St. Bede’s will now represent the borough at ‘The Parks’ Sports Complex in North Shields in the County Finals in March 2018.

Meanwhile, I was delighted by the whole squad who represented our school in the finals event, for the way they all supported one another throughout the finals.Thank you very much to the parents who supported our children, on a particularly cold November day.

5 Star Quicksticks – 3.10.17

8th October 2018K McVittie

Both of our Tag Rugby teams played wonderfully at the District tournament. They each defended resolutely and attacked with their rapid, evasive running skills. The A team were pronounced South Tyneside ‘King of Tags’ after winning their group, before defeating St. Aloysius (semi-final) and Ashley (final) in gripping contests.

All of the St. Bede’s players have been superb at attending Tag Rugby practises in recent weeks and thoroughly deserved their successes at the tournament. Thank you for your efforts!

Y3/4 County Quicksticks Finals- 28.3.17

8th October 2018K McVittie

The Y3/4 Quicksticks A team represented South Tyneside in the Tyne and Wear Finals at The Parks Sports Complex in North Tyneside. The event started with an inspiring hockey demonstration by two England Under 21 players- Rhys Smith and Jack Turner.

When the action got underway, St. Bede’s played some exciting hockey against the best sides in the region. The highlight was the 4-2 victory over Shiney Row (Champions of Sunderland). This was a particularly memorable match for Jude Hill, who scored all four of our goals. It was also great to see our youngest player Saul Connor score a wonderful individual goal against eventual winners Fellside (Gateshead).

While we missed out on a place in the semi-finals ourselves; I was delighted with the commitment shown by all of our players who kept going to the final whistle in each game. All of the St. Bede’s players were proud to wear the orange of South Tyneside on the day. Well done to Will Watson (Captain), Jude Hill, Lucas Britton, Saul Connor, Darcey Tullis and Keira Murphy.

St. Bede’s Quicksticks & Hockey Teams – The Pride of South Tyneside 2016!

St. Bede’s were the only school to have two teams in the Tyne and Wear Winter Finals, which was a wonderful achievement.

Both of our teams gave a great account of themselves too, with the Y5/6 team reaching the Semi-final stage. Meanwhile the Y3/4 Quicksticks team came third in the group, missing out on a semi-final place by a point.

Well done to everyone involved, I was very proud of you all!

Y3/4 Quicksticks Champions 2016!

Five St. Bede’s teams took part in the District Quicksticks event, including 26 teams at Boldon School.  Everyone had a wonderful time and played some fantastic Quicksticks!

The St. Bede’s A Team played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with St. Aloysius in the final. The game went into extra-time with St. Bede’s scoring the ‘Golden Goal’ to lift the cup! Hayden Buckham was the goal scoring hero for St. Bede’s, scoring all four in the final!

Well done to everyone who took part, and the brilliant parent helpers on the day!
